Statement from Geri Gainey, Chair, Halifax County Republican Party

Senator Thom Tillis has announced that he will not seek reelection at the end of his term. While many of us in the conservative grassroots have not always agreed with Senator Tillis on key issues, I believe it is important to acknowledge his years of public service to North Carolina.

He has served our state in the General Assembly and the U.S. Senate during times of great political division and pressure. His early announcement gives our party the time we need to prepare—time to recruit bold, unapologetic conservatives who will stand firmly on the Republican platform and return to the values that built this party: faith, family, freedom, and personal responsibility.

I also want to recognize Susan Tillis for her unwavering support of our veterans and military families. Her work with Red, White & Bundled has had a real impact, especially on those who serve our country quietly and selflessly.

As Chair of the Halifax County Republican Party, I remain focused on what’s next. We must use this opportunity to rally behind candidates who will fight for the Constitution, protect life, secure our borders, and put North Carolina families first. The future of our state and our nation depends on strong conservative leadership—and we are ready to rise to the occasion.
